Yep, I went to Washington DC. I haven't been since I was 17, and it was really good to see it all again. My sister and brother-in-law live in Maryland. Annette took me to the airport, and we had Westin with us. He saw me and said, "Ellen, you have ramen noodle hair!" It was so funny! And, it's kind of true. My hair does curl like ramen noodles. The humidity in DC made my hair even more curly. Mostly I went sightseeing and had a great time. I love the metro: it's so easy and convenient. While Matt and Caroline were at school/work, I went into downtown and saw so many things, but didn't even get to see it all. There's no way I could post all the pictures I took, so here's the highlights:

Caroline and the Washington Monument |

Caroline and the Capitol |

Caroline and Matt at Arlington. They were in process of resodding. |

Yes, an actual sign next to the marble bins. Apparently children don't belong in them. |

Now, I saw things I don't usually see in DC. First and probably the weirdest: a full grown woman sucking on a lime green binki at the subway station. Also, manpris are always funny to me. They are even more funny on old men who are older than 60-years-old. They're way too long to be shorts, but not nearly long enough to be pants. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of either of these things.
